  • Turning Point!

Ok, so it has been a few weeks now since I found out about my little Cardiac Predicament. In that time I have been doing quite a bit of Soul searching… Living with high blood pressure is one thing, however, living with it in addition to an enlarged left ventricle is quite something else altogether.

The question however now is how I move on with my life knowing that I am as vulnerable to all the ravages of the human condition as the next man! For starters, admitting that I am not invincible I believe is step one, admitting to myself that I do have a problem is step two and finding a mechanism to manage / control it is step three.

Over the past few months I think I have been force fed enough medical evidence to conclude I do have an issue and that I need to do something about it. I think since finding out about my enlarged left ventricle I have come quickly around to understanding there are some very real implications to ignoring high blood pressure. If I am being honest with myself, up until I lay on that Hospital bed and watched the Doc perform the Echocardiogram I had convinced myself that my biggest issue was fitness! I now realise it was all a big Macho / Retro-sexual pig stubborn male ego thing. When I cut away all the crap, the bottom line is I have a young family who I want to know and love for the next fifty years or so. (Perhaps more! ;-) ) And for that reason alone I need to find a way (my way) to fix this. Perhaps fix is still a bit macho, what I really mean is control and manage my condition. I know I can resolve the enlarged ventricle by systematically reducing my blood pressure. To do this I can either go down the whole medical route by taking prescribed medication or find a more holistic natural solution.

To some extent this blog entry is a defining moment for me as I do not want to blindly jump into taking medication. I would like to investigate and research more natural methods in a bid to control my blood pressure. Now do not get me wrong here, at the end of the day I do not intend to take a risk with either my future or the future of my family so I fully intend to look into the medical route as well. I just won’t be blindly jumping onboard the medical “Pill Express” without having first exhausted all other avenues open to me. And believe me when I say, there are a lot of alternatives out there.

This blog for the next while is going to be dedicated to looking at such alternatives. I will provide some real scientific feedback on their effectiveness and ease of use.

If you are interested in controlling your BP by anything other than “Pills” then stay tuned.
